Dermaplaning
Smooth, flawless canvas
Overview
Many clients mistakenly believe that dermaplaning alters hair structure; from a clinical standpoint, Dermaplaning simply cleaves the hair at the surface level, meaning vellus hair grows back with the exact same fine texture and speed as before. Using a sterile, single-use carbon steel surgical scalpel held at a precise 45-degree angle, the skin is pulled taut as the blade gently skims across the epidermis. This manual action cleanly removes the stratum corneum—the outermost layer of dead skin—along with trapped debris. By removing this dead barrier, cell turnover is safely stimulated, skin luminosity increases, and a fresh, healthy layer of skin is brought to the surface.
Benefits
- Instant Surface Smoothing: Completely eliminates rough patches, flaky skin build-up, and dead epidermal cells.
- Removes Vellus Hair: Shaves away fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) which traps dirt, excess oil, and makeup.
- Enhances Product Absorption: Maximizes the penetration of your daily serums and moisturizers by clearing the structural barrier.
- Brightens Dullness: Eliminates the shadows cast by fine hairs and dead skin, reflecting light for an instant clinical glow.
- Flawless Makeup Base: Provides a perfectly uniform texture, allowing foundation to apply smoothly without caking.
Treatment Process
- 1Cleansing: A comprehensive double-cleanse sanitizes the skin and strips away surface oils.
- 2Skin Prep: The treatment area is thoroughly dried and prepped with a gentle astringent/oil to ensure the blade can glide cleanly.
- 3Manual Dermaplaning: The skin is held taut in small sections while the sterile surgical blade is moved in short, measured strokes across the face.
- 4Hydrating Infusion: A calming, hyaluronic-rich serum is massaged into the skin to deeply soothe the newly exposed epidermis.
- 5Barrier Restoration: The session concludes with a deeply nourishing recovery balm and a broad-spectrum SPF 50 screen.
Aftercare
- To protect your freshly resurfaced skin barrier, observe these instructions for the next 48 to 72 hours:
- Photoprotection: Apply a high-factor broad-spectrum SPF daily. The newly exposed skin is highly susceptible to sun damage.
- Gentle Hygiene: Wash your face gently with cool water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Do not rub with harsh towels.
- Thermal Abstinence: Avoid swimming pools, hot saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for 48 hours to prevent folliculitis.
- Skincare Cease: Strictly avoid all active topicals (Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, scrubs) for 5 days post-treatment.
- Cosmetics: Avoid heavy liquid foundations for the first 24 hours; allow the skin pores to remain clear and breathe.
